PSC offers the following series of travel training courses for HHS employees:

HHS Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Part 1 & Part 2

This two-part online course offers HHS Federal Travelers and Federal Travel Arrangers (Preparers) an opportunity to learn about the  various roles and responsibilities within their travel organizations, guidance on common travel policies questions, and a hands-on walk through of the online travel service, Concur Government Edition (CGE).

Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Part 1

Part 1 of the Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers course is the starting point for all persons who travel on official Government business or who arrange travel for others. The course introduces students to their primary roles and responsibilities, and establishes a fundamental understanding of how to properly perform federal Government travel. Included in the course are policy do’s and don’ts, how to successfully use the CGE to arrange domestic travel, how to obtain financial reimbursement for travel performed, and cancel reservations when necessary.

This course is required for all employees of HHS who travel or support travel and who will use the online travel system, CGE. This course must be completed prior traveling on official Government business.

Registration: To complete this training, log in to the HHS Learning Management System (LMS) and register for:Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Part 1 (Offering ID: 00137402).

Prerequisites: None

Cost: This course is free of charge to all HHS employees.

Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Part 2

Part 2 of the Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers course continues the hands-on walkthrough of the Concur Government Edition (CGE) travel management application. Students will build upon their previously gained knowledge and learn to create travel Authorizations for foreign travel and sponsored travel, as well as how to create local travel Vouchers.  

This course is recommended for all employees of HHS who travel or support travel and who will use the online travel system, Concur Government Edition (CGE) and should be completed prior to traveling on official Government business.

Registration: To complete this training, log in to the HHS Learning Management System (LMS) and register for:Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Part 2 (Offering ID: 00137417).

Prerequisite: Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Part 1 (Offering ID: 00137402).

HHS Travel Training for Certifiers and Approvers

This online course offers HHS Certifiers and Approvers, as well as all types of routing officials, an overview of the various roles and responsibilities within their travel organizations, guidance on common travel policies questions, and a hands-on walk through of the online travel service, Concur Government Edition (CGE). Within CGE, you will learn how to access a travel document, review relevant information for accuracy and policy compliance, and edit the document as needed.

This course is required for all employees of HHS who will review and approve travel documents in CGE and must be completed prior to logging into CGE as a routing official.

Registration: To complete this training, log in to the HHS Learning Management System (LMS) and register for:Travel Training for Certifiers and Approvers (Offering ID: 00104361).

Prerequisites (recommended): Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Parts 1 and 2 (Offering ID: 00137402 and 00137417).

HHS Travel Training for Federal Agency Travel Administrators (FATAs)

The HHS Travel Training for Federal Agency Travel Administrators (FATAs) is an instructor-led training which prepares FATAs to perform the critical role of supporting travel within their organization. This course covers the roles and responsibilities of the FATA, an overview of the HHS and Federal policies which regulate travel, and the administrative functions of the online travel management service, Concur Government Edition (CGE).

This course is required for all employees who will act as administrators in CGE and must be completed prior to being granted the FATA role in CGE.

Registration: To register for this course, log in to the HHS Learning Management System (LMS) and register for:Travel Training for Federal Agency Travel Administrators (Offering ID 00137335). Then select the session based on the scheduled dates and locations. See below for schedule.

Prerequisites: Travel Training for Travelers and Preparers: Parts 1 and 2 (Offering ID: 00137402 and 00137417) and Travel Training for Certifiers and Approvers (Offering ID: 00104361).

Cost: $300 per participant. Printed training materials are available for an additional $88.50. A soft copy of the materials will be provided free of charge. The payment form is included in the course confirmation (select Current Learnings > View Details > Attachments). The payment form must be submitted via email totransportation@psc.gov prior to the start of class.

Cancellations: Participants who register but cannot attend should cancel their registration in the HHS LMS as soon as possible so that their space can be offered to another FATA. For a full refund, cancellations must occur 21 days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations less than 21 days, as well as all no-shows, are responsible for payment in full. Substitutions are permitted at no additional cost.

Schedule: Travel Training for Federal Agency Travel Administrators is currently offered on a monthly basis in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Training in other locations, including the regional offices, can be scheduled upon request.

HHS Travel Charge Card Training

The Health and Human Services Travel Charge Card Training is a 30-minute course that will give cardholders and Administrative/Organization Program Coordinators (A/OPCs) a better understanding of HHS-specific policies and procedures associated with the Travel Charge Card, and will help cardholders and organizations maximize the benefits of the Travel Charge Card program. This course replaces the GSA Travel Charge Card course as an HHS requirement and is mandatory for all cardholders, as well as A/OPCs.

As stated in OMB Circular A-123 Appendix B, all cardholders are required to complete training prior to receiving a card and every three (3) years thereafter. A/OPCs are required to complete the training annually. Supervisors of cardholders are also strongly encouraged to complete the training.
